Obituary

Willie Mae Houk, 85, was born on December 4, 1936 to her parents Ralph Nephi Remington and Eldora Mizel Remington. She passed away on October 18, 2022 at Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 29, 2022. It will be held at the Community of Christ Church (108 Pawnee, Dr. in Clinton, MO) at 2:00P.M.

Willie was a Registered Nurse and received her education at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO. She worked at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital for many years. Her last position she held at the hospital, and then retired from, was the Stress Unit. Willie helped so many people because she enjoyed her work. She was, at one time, a volunteer on the Tightwad Fire Department. She served the community of Tightwad and surrounding areas for over 10 years. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church where she received her calling to the Priesthood. Helping people was one of her great joys and that choosing happiness was a choice. She always stated "Go and celebrate. Be happy you know it's a choice". Willie will be missed by many but we know we will meet her again.

Willie is survived by her husband, Milton, of the home. Four children; Susan McElwee Fisher-Slater, Kenneth McElwee (Trish), Patty Belew (Randy), and Loretta Smith (Chris). Her grandchildren; Shannon Sanderson, Jeremiah Fisher, Katherine Pummill, Robert Slater Jr., Richard Prewitt, Jennifer Prewitt, Nathan Prewitt, Shannon Prewitt, Chris Allinder, Joey Allinder, Traci Coker, Nickolas Smith, and Breanna Smith; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two husbands; Kenneth McElwee and Harold (Red) Bond; two brothers, Ralph Remington and Gilbert Remington, one sister; Geraldine Yates, a grandson; David McElwee, and a great-granddaughter; Elizabeth (Libby) Prewitt.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
