William L. "Bill" Burks II was born on June 9, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri. Bill and his family moved to Deepwater when he was 13 years old. Bill graduated from Lakeland R-12 High School. He moved briefly to the Kansas City area and to Texas, but he returned to Clinton where he made his home. He owned and operated Bill's Floor Care for several years. If you saw an ambulance with "Bill's Floor Care" on the side, you knew it was Bill. Affectionately known as Captain Jack to his friends, he was a kind-hearted man who would give you his last dollar if you needed it. He had a jolly laugh and was even a pretty good Santa Claus.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Barbara Burks and his beloved little dog, Holly.
He is survived by his brother, John Burks (Kaye) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, his sister, Patty Gerdel (Doug) of Topeka, Kansas, his nephews, Keith Gerdel and Jon Gerdel (Kristen) and his great nieces, as well as his little dog, Hannah.
Bill will surely be missed, but never forgotten.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
