Velma Lee (Elsea) Allen-Fletcher, age 80 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Vansant Road Cemetery at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Velma Fletcher Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home. Velma Lee (Elsea) Fletcher was born August 26, 1939 to William and Albertina (Opfer) Elsea in Napton, MO. Velma graduated high school and went on to receive an associates degree. She loved flowers, gardening, embroidery, quilts, sewing, and canning. Velma was a member of the Calhoun Christian Church. She worked in the nursing and health care field. She loved raising her cattle and watching westerns and John Wayne. She was known for helping raise many children through out Calhoun and always enjoyed spending time with her family.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Allen, 1 brother Marvin Elsea, grandson Nicholas, and great-granddaughter Ava Marie.

Velma is survived by her children, Marvin (Mary) Allen of Calhoun, Richard Allen of Calhoun, Kathryn Ruble of Mexico, MO, David Allen of Jericho Springs, MO, Linda Allen (Russel Adams) of Green Ridge, MO, LeeAnn (Brian) Long of Raymore, MO, Anita (Scott) Slaughter of Houstonia, MO, grandchildren, Bryan, Brett, Crystal, John, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Cody, Lauryn, Jonathon, Matthew, Gage, Jayden, Danielle, and Justina, 15 great-grandchildren,3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
