Thoburn Sheppard, age 88 years, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri. Funeral Service will take place Friday, July 24, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri. Visitation will take one hour prior to service. Graveside will follow at Longview Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Missouri at 2:30pm. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bible Baptist Church-Building and may be left in care of the funeral home. Thoburn was born to Guy Sheppard and Della Bell on July 22, 1926 in Baldwin City, Kansas. He was a member of Deacons Forrest Ave Baptist, Loma Vista Baptist Church as well as Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Thoburn worked at Fordyce Concrete for 32 years as a mixer driver. He was also a member of the teamsters union. Thoburn enjoyed woodworking, photography, taking pictures of weddings, barns, and tractors. He loved trains.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gena, brothers Guy Sheppard Jr., and Harold Sheppard. Among survivors are his wife Dorothy; son Bruce Sheppard (Kim); daughters Judy Timm, Kathleen Paquette (Gary), and Step-Daughter Anita Bloodgood (Bill); 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
