Ted O. Austin, age 87 of Chilhowee, Missouri, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM with burial following with military honors in Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kansas City Hospice House and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Ted Olan Austin was born on September 2, 1936, the son of Roy and Emma (Wade) Austin. He graduated from Clinton High School and then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Ted served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from 1957-1959 during the Korean War. He married Norma Darlene Martin in 1959 and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Shawnee Mound.

Ted loved the farm; it was his life, his work and passion. He enjoyed spending time at the Kingsville Livestock Auction, he spent countless days there. He was always looking for a bargain. He was an engineer and sometimes he was an entrepreneur. He had a sweet tooth for homemade pie, cheesecake and ice cream.

Preceding him in death is his parents Roy and Emma Austin, and his only sibling Jack Austin and his wife Darlene.

He is survived by his son Steven (Barbie) Austin, his grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) McNally and Alex Austin of Clinton, Missouri, one great grandson, Elijah McNally, his sister-in-law Bobbi Austin, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
