Stephen Mothersbaugh, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Stephen's wishes were to be cremated.  A private family graveside will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 in the Vansant Road Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to the Arbor Day Foundation and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Stephen was born on February 8, 1960 in Clinton, Missouri to Martha and James Mothersbaugh. He married Jane F. Nichols and enjoyed 43 years together.  Stephen worked with MoDOT  for 31 years. He was an extremely hard worker; he loved to fish, watch Gunsmoke and the Chiefs and Royals play. He loved to garden, bird watch, orioles, finches and hummingbirds were his favorite birds to watch.

Stephen enjoyed spending time with family and watching his grandkids play in sporting events. He made the best baked beans that everyone loved. He handed the recipe down in hopes the kids can make them just as good.

He is survived by his wife Jane Mothersbaugh, his children Erin Goth and husband Brandon, Andy Mothersbaugh and wife Angela, Matt Mothersbaugh and wife Brittney, four grandchildren Makenna Goth, Payton Goth, Preston Mothersbaugh, and Wyatt Mothersbaugh, three siblings Lonnie Mothersbaugh, Diane Swartz, and Terri Roelker, along with numerous family, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral home in Clinton, Missouri.
