Robert "Bob" Lindsey was born on April 25, 1961, to George and Judith Lindsey. He grew up in Smithville, Missouri, surrounded by family, learning to build and tear apart cars in the family salvage yard. It was there that Bob's passion for demolition derby began—a love that carried through his life. Over the years, he competed in countless derbies across the Midwest, often alongside his cousins Jimmie and Eddie Lindsey. His final run was at the Missouri State Fair, where he proudly competed with his sons, Timothy and Michael.
After graduating high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years of active duty followed by four years in the Navy Seabees, completing his service in 1987. In 1981, Bob met Dawn Razee, who had a young son, Timothy. Bob fell in love with them both, gave Timothy his name, and provided him with a loving home. Together, Bob and Dawn had two more children: Holly, born in 1982, and Michael, born in 1984. After returning home to Smithville, Bob continued building his life around family and hard work. Though Bob and Dawn eventually went their separate ways in 1997, he always remained close to his children.
In 2003, Bob found love again with Sherry Bookout. They spent many joyful years together until Sherry's passing in 2019. Bob remained strong through all of life's trials—quiet in words but proud in presence. He deeply loved his family and was especially proud of his children and grandchildren, even if he didn't always say it aloud. His love was shown through his actions, his smile, and the strength he gave to those around him.
Bob touched countless lives through his generosity, wisdom, and unmistakable presence. He helped shape others in meaningful ways and left a lasting impact that will not be forgotten. He loved with intensity and lived with passion.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey and Margie Lindsey; his mother and stepfather, Judith and Donald Bernard; his niece, Jillian Faye Stegall; Andra May Turner; and his beloved partner, Sherry Bookout.
He is survived by his father, George Lindsey of Smithville, MO; and his siblings: Susan (Billy) Stegall of Oklahoma, Margaret Thornal of South Carolina, Tracy Blattman of Kansas City, MO, Jim (Jana) Lindsey, Eddie Lindsey, and Harvey Lindsey Jr., all of Smithville, MO.
Bob's legacy lives on through his children: Timothy (April) Lindsey, Andrea Lindsey of Panama City, FL, Holly Ann Lindsey of Deepwater, MO, Michael G. R. Lindsey of Deepwater, MO, and Matt (Frances) Thompson of Clinton, MO. He was a proud grandfather to: Rachelle (PJ) Landsburg, Blake Lindsey, Aramis Lindsey, Shelby Lindsey, Clarissan Rodrick, D'Artagnan (Kay) Lindsey, Noah Turner, Porthos Lindsey, Brenden Stephens, Athena Lindsey, June Lindsey, and Evan Lindsey. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Carter Willis (Shelby), Kara Lindsey (D'Artagnan & Kay), James Rodriguez (Clarissan), Christopher Landsburg (Rachelle & PJ), and Jericho Sepulveda (Porthos). Bob is also survived by his stepchildren: Ryan Johnston, Daelynn Irwin, and Brittney Thompson, along with their children and many dear friends who loved and considered him family.
On May 4, 2025, Bob went home to our Heavenly Father to reunite with those who went before him. We know he was greeted with open arms and is now smiling down on us with a cold drink in hand, watching over every one of us with pride and love in his heart and also telling us all to have a blessed May the forth be with you.
