Robert Eugene Crossley, 82, of Warsaw, MO, departed this life on Sunday, July 6, 2014. Bob was born on September 2, 1931 in Creston, Iowa and the majority of his childhood was spent in the surrounding area. Bob married Barbara Lou Ray in 1951 and they moved to Lee's Summit, MO in 1959, where they raised their seven children.
Bob worked for Fixtures Manufacturing in Kansas City for several years, and eventually he and Barbara moved to Arkansas, Louisiana and finally Mississippi where Bob worked for MTD before retiring in 1995. Bob and Barbara spent the past 18 years of their retirement in Warsaw, MO.
Bob always loved to fish and participate in Bass Tournaments. He was very proud of the trophies, plaques and even a bass boat he was awarded for his ability to catch the "Lunker".
Bob was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Clinton, MO and dedicated many hours of labor of love in support of the church. He had a talent for woodworking and designed and built the reredos, pulpit, as well as the baptismal and holy water fonts for the Church.
He was a volunteer for Warm House in Warsaw for several years, never met a stranger and befriended several over the years. He took pride in his ability to help others.
He and his family are very appreciative of the support, cards, visits and phone calls from so many friends during his illness and especially his dear neighbors. We are also forever thankful for the care and love we received from Benton County Hospice, as well as his doctors & staff and private care providers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Helen Crossley of Cromwell, Iowa, a son, Joseph and a granddaughter, Jacquelyn Suzanne. He is survived by his ever faithful, loving and caring wife of over 62 years, Barbara "Louie"; four sons: Jim "JC" (Debbie) Crossley and John (Stacey) Crossley of Lee's Summit, MO, Jeff (Dorie) Crossley of Raytown, MO, and Jerry Crossley of Montauk, NY; two daughters, Jeanne (Pat) Malloy of Platte City, MO, and Joanie Crossley, of Richmond, VA; daughter-in-law, Karen Crossley of Overland Park, KS; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as special nieces and nephews in Tennessee, Iowa, Florida, Colorado and California.
