Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rick E. Cauthon, of Olathe, Kansas. Rick was a devoted family man, business owner, and speed enthusiast, who left us on May 12, 2024, at the age of 62. A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, in his hometown of Clinton, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. Friends and family are invited to honor his memory and share their fondest stories.

Rick was born on April 23, 1962, to Lester (Les) and Linda (Braun) Cauthon. Rick grew up in Clinton, MO and graduated in 1980 from Clinton High School- where he was involved in clubs, played baseball and was voted best dressed.

Hard work, determination, and a zest for life truly defined who he was. Known for his zest for speed, Rick aptly adopted the nickname Rayce to compliment the joy he found in the roar of an engine, rebuilding vehicles and the thrill of the race- especially against his kids and family on a go-kart track. In 1996, Rick founded RC Certified Inspections, a business that quickly became a pillar of the community. His unwavering commitment to excellence and integrity earned him the trust and respect of countless clients. For over 28 years, Rick's meticulous eye and dedication ensured that every inspection met the highest standards, reflecting his pride in his work. An even prouder accomplishment was being able to instill his passion into his business partner and son, Ricky Joe, who will continue to honor his dad through excellence as the owner of RC Certified Inspections. Family was the heart and soul of Rick's life.

He is survived by his loving mother, Linda Cauthon; his cherished children, Kayla Dawn and Ricky Joe; and his adored granddaughter, Magnolia Grace, who each brought boundless joy and light to his life. Rick is also survived by adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his dad, Lester (Les) Cauthon & younger brother, Ronald (Ron) Cauthon- both of Clinton, MO.

Rick treasured every moment spent with his family, and especially enjoyed family trips to Colorado, game nights, making others laugh and sports- especially his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Rick was truly in his element when it came to fireworks and his Christmas light displays- he always wanted to ensure everyone enjoyed the show and that his passion could be shared with others. Rick's home was also shared with his beloved four-legged boys, Milo and Dexter. His deep affection for animals was evident in the care and love he bestowed upon his pets, who were his faithful friends and companions. During his 16 year courageous fight with cancer, Rick stayed strong and positive- never letting the disease stop him from living life to the fullest. Rick's passing leaves a profound void, but his legacy of love, laughter, and spirited enthusiasm will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Rick E. Cauthon will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the rev of an engine, the wag of a tail, and the hearts of those who loved him.
