Richard E. Newell, 86 of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed Thursday, August 29, 2019, surrounded by his family following a short battle with illness. Born December 8, 1932 in Pender, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Walter and Laura Newell. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com . Dick was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and brother. He was married to his wife Pat for over 52 wonderful years, and was a Lt. Commander honorably discharged after 21 years as a U.S. Naval Carrier Pilot. Following his military career  he and his wife Pat began a new highly successful career in Real Estate. They enjoyed working together as a team where they excelled selling new homes throughout Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. He was a loving soul and enjoyed spending time with his wife Pat, his 2 sons and all four grand kids! A graduate of the University of Nebraska, he also loved watching his beloved Nebraska Cornhusker football games!

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons Mark and Richard Newell, his daughter in law Trish, his grandchildren Ryan, Austin, Christy and Tyler all of Chesapeake, VA, and brother Frank Newell of Redmond, Washington.
