Obituary

Raymond Hillier passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 at Research Medical Center Kansas City, MO. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com .

Mr. Raymond "Ray" Hillier, was born in Bakersfield, CA on May 9, 1972 and died from complications of a stroke on February 10th, 2020.  Ray is survived by his wife, Melissa "Missy" Hillier.  From his previous marriage he was blessed with two children, Greg and Aishia, and two grandsons, Auzrian and Axxten.  He also became a dedicated father to his children by marriage, Charlie Kline IV, Austin Kline and Emily Paul. He is survived by parents Greg and Catherine Hillier, brother Jason (Tina) Hillier, sister Tami (Jeremy) Rowell, and stepfather Gary Harrington. He was preceded in death by biological mother Katie Harrington and grandparents. Ray was especially close with grandparents Eugene and Wanda Hillier

Ray brings to mind countless admirable qualities.  Ray was a hard worker, strong, funny, helpful, energetic, positive, active, and loving.  What is most commonly heard throughout the reverberation in the pain of his loss is "Ray was a good man…"  When thinking through everything that puts Ray in the category of a "good man", it is clear Ray always put others first.  He loved to work hard to help anyone out.  He became very embedded in his faith and Allen Street Baptist church, and loved to help out members of his congregation and express his love for his Heavenly Father. He overcame many hurdles in life to get to this point.

As a husband and father,  Ray's love for his family showed every day. Anyone close to them would see Ray constantly expressing his love for his wife and all 5 kids.  Melissa and Raymond were married on June 15th of 2019.  Their relationship entailed a beautiful partnership, where they found every reason to laugh together, travel together, be active together, have regular family meals, help the community together, and worship together.  He was sure to tell her every day how much he loved her and how beautiful she is.  He was truly, by every definition, "a good man…"

Ray's colorful life will forever be cherished by the lives of his widow, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, in-laws, and many many friends. Ray's impact will be felt for generations.

In celebration of Ray's life, an event will be held at the Primitive Old Crow Winery Event barn 32 SE AA Hwy Clinton MO at 4:00 PM on March 7th. Please join us in this celebration as he would love to have been here for it. He said that he and Jesus are good and he was ready to meet God.
