Obituary

Patsy Darlene Crabtree, 74, embarked on her next great adventure on November 22, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Patsy's wishes were to be cremated.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri on Friday, December 8, 2023 with a visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. The family would like for you to join them at the Benson Center in Clinton, Missouri for food and fellowship following the services.

Pat was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church. Pat left us too soon, but no amount of time with her would have been enough – we find comfort knowing Pat is pain free in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will live on in our memories as we honor her legacy by loving with open arms and giving hearts.

Pat was born on February 15, 1949, in Carrollton, Missouri to Ernest Clifton Bowlen and Josephine Katherine (Wheeler) Bowlen. Pat married the love of her life, Loy (Rendell) Crabtree on January 28, 1966. When Rendell was drafted in the Army only six weeks after their wedding, Pat fearlessly followed him on their big adventure to Aschaffenburg, Germany. Once they returned to the States, Pat begun the adventure of parenthood by fostering and ultimately adopting their four beloved children-Michael Rendell, William Clifton, Wayne Michael and Patsy Diane.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Clifton Bowlen and Josephine Katherine (Wheeler) Bowlen, and a beloved brother, Terry Clifton Bowlen (Butch).

Pat is survived by her loving husband, Loy Rendell Crabtree, her children, Michael Rendell Crabtree (Maria), William Clifton Crabtree, Wayne Michael Crabtree and Patsy Diane Cruse (Jayson), seven grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, her sister, Sheila Diane Butler (Bud), her brother, Mark Wayne Bowlen, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other family that will miss her dearly.

Over the nearly six decades they devoted to each other, Pat and Rendell would move many times as Rendell remodeled the structure of each new house while Pat made the house a home with her gift for interior decorating. Christmas was always Pat's favorite holiday and she took pride in decorating her home with numerous Christmas trees.

Pat and Rendell retired on October 1, 1997 to South Texas, and later, Henderson, Nevada before ultimately relocating to Clinton, Missouri where Pat once again worked her magic and created an inviting home full of love.

After years of battling lung cancer with the bravery and humility that was pure Pat, family and friends hurried to her side to enjoy final moments with the woman who always gave all she had to those she loved. Pat passed peacefully in her home surrounded by the love she always gave so freely. We will miss Pat each day, but she will live on through us as we honor her memory and the joy she embodied.
