Nellie Hestand passed away Monday October 26, 2020 at the Village of Jackson Creek in Independence Missouri. Visitation will be Friday October 30, 2020 from 2 PM-3 PM at the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3 PM. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery Brownington, Missouri. Memorial contributions to Children's Mercy Hospital in care of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home.

Nellie Mary Lee (Smith) Hestand was born August 17, 1921 in Humansville Missouri to Hobart and Margaret Smith. Nellie and her family moved to Deepwater Missouri during the 30's so Hobart could work in The Tile Factory. Nellie attended Deepwater High School. Nellie married Carl D. Hestand on September 30, 1941. Carl and Nellie had 9 children Floyd, Judy, Sharon, Mary, Ellis, Bettye, Dennis, Donald and Carol. Nellie and family moved to Kansas City in 1946 when The Factory closed.

Nellie is preceded in death by her parents Hobart and Margaret Smith, her husband Carl Hestand, 3 sons Floyd, Ellis and Donald, one daughter Sharon Wilson Hestand. Nellie is survived by her daughters Judy Grimes, Mary Fuller, Bettye Hancock and Carol Hestand one son Dennis Hestand 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 11 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home Clinton, Missouri.
