Neil Meisner was born to Chris M. & Eula Lavon Meisner (Stow) on January 1st, 1953 in Macon, Mo. In fact he was the first baby born in Macon County that year. He was the youngest of 9 children and a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in rural Macon. He rededicated his life in 1986, and was baptized at Windsor Crossing.
He grew up and graduated from Macon High School in 1971 and moved down to Florida to work in the landscaping business. He came to Clinton around 1973 and worked in construction until 1975 when he had a motorcycle accident. Although laid up for awhile, Bobby Joe Bramell used him to help drive his dump truck which led to his working for Walter Johnson, Jr. When Walter was not able to work the business himself, the opportunity to acquire the business was presented to him. That was the beginning of Neil Meisner Rock & Dirt Service. Over time, he added a loader & road grader to expand his business to cover not only hauling but building roads and foundations and doing demolition jobs. If it was possible to do it with his equipment, he did it. He took a lot of pride in not only doing his work but making sure it was done right. He continued to work clear up to the time & beyond when his health no longer would permit it.
Over the years he enjoyed being a member of the Elks & Eagles clubs in Clinton and riding his motorcycle whenever he got the chance. He also looked forward to shooting pool once a week with the guys and though it took all he had, he did so right up to the end. Over the years he was a member of several teams in the Clinton area. His love for animals showed as he always had a dog by his side. Neil had a quick wit and the gift of gab, which seems to be a Meisner trait and always had an answer for everything, right or wrong. It always seemed to amaze him how he was recognized most anywhere he went.
He married Connie J. Reese on August 28, 1976 and were blessed with two daughters who then blessed him again by each having a grandson for him to spoil & he didn't hold back as far as that was concerned.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Lavon, along with his brother, Jack Meisner, all of Clinton, MO. Also preceding in death are brother-in-laws, Ed Gregory and Marion Truitt and nephews, Denny Don Ricci & Lonnie Truitt. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Connie, and both daughters. Angela Meisner, partner Aaron Perez and their son, Aiden Perez of Clinton. Andrea Gregory, husband Jason and their son, Justin Gregory, all of Mt. Zion. Seven of Neil's siblings remain; Chris 'Sonny' Meisner and wife Donna of Belton, MO, Vonna Jo Gregory of Brentwood, TN, Lewis Meisner and wife Darlene of Macon, MO, Bobby Truitt of Macon, MO, Gayla Ricci of Flagstaff, AZ, June Vestal of Cookeville, TN, and John Meisner and wife Ruth of Macon, MO. Along with extended family Karen Meisner, Clinton and Don Ricci, Flagstaff, AZ. Neil was also lucky to have the love of countless nieces and nephews.
His humor and love will be forever missed. Even though he's went on before us we will meet him again someday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
