She went to college at Warrensburg Teachers College for 2 years. Her brother and sister set Mildred up with her future husband, William Walter Bailey Jr., they married June 14, 1939. At Hobsons Furniture she was bookkeeper, and carpet and tile scheduler for numerous years, gossip at the Bailey Farm reported that 4 people were hired to replace her when she retired.

Mildred, Bill, Barb and Nate took many enjoyable vacations together. Bill and Judy sent Mildred and Bill to Hawaii for their 40th Anniversary- another great trip. At 93 Mildred and her daughter joined the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was fulfilling her Aunts dream.
