Mary Virginia "Ginnie" Cook, 88, passed away in her home on July 22, 2019 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born in Clinton, MO on December 23, 1930, to Woodville and Mary (Casburn) Stout. Mary Virginia, as she was called in her early life, attended Immaculate Conception Church and St. Mary's Catholic School in Montrose, MO. She was a graduate of Montrose High School, and earned the honor of Senior Class Valedictorian. After one year at Benedictine College, Ginnie moved to Kansas City, MO where she took a secretarial position. She was united in marriage to Robert J. "Bob" Cook on May 24, 1952 and they settled in Clinton, MO.
Ginnie was a devoted mother of 15 children and worked tirelessly providing a secure and loving home for her family. Bob's business often took him away from the home, leaving her to manage the busy household. In spite of the demands of motherhood, Ginnie relished watching her children grow, and took pride in their achievements. Weddings, family reunions and holidays were some of her most cherished moments and her efforts provided her family with lasting memories.
Ginnie was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and spent many hours serving the parish community through Altar Society and other ministries. She had a true servant's heart and she passed her example of service onto her children and grandchildren. Faith and prayer were central to her life and were shared daily with her family.
If Ginnie ever found a spare moment, she enjoyed Canasta parties with her friends, winning at the slot machines and travel. She loved to visit her family on both coasts and tour various parts of the world.
Ginnie is survived by her children: Ron (Helen), John (Mary), Jim (Jackie) all of Clinton, Laraine (Craig) George of Eureka, Mo, Linda (Scott) Christy, Clinton, Greg (Norma), Germantown, IL, Rita (John) Coulter, Edwardsville, IL, Charles (Amy), Springfield, MO, Stan (Anita) and Karen (Roy) Qualls, Clinton, Scott (Jodi), Pat, and Steve of Kansas City, MO, Theresa (Doug) Hunsberger, Lawrence, KS and Carl (Stephanie), Germantown, IL; 38 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Stout and her sister, Norma Acker. Ginnie was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, Woodville and Mary Stout, and three brothers: Tom Stout, Jim Stout, and John Stout, and one great-grandson, Joseph Cook.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
