Mary Evelyn was born on October 6, 1933 in Clinton, Missouri. She was the youngest daughter of Samuel Jesse Elliott and Mary Lucy (Salley) Elliott. Mary Evelyn was born and raised in Clinton, Missouri. On October 25, 1952 she married the love of her life, Ernest Duane Mahan. From this union 6 children were born.

Besides her busy life of farm work and raising children, she loved to cook. She worked as a baker at UCM in the 60's and 70's and later cooked at Shawnee Mound School. She was loved by all students and staff and all called her grandma. Mary Evelyn (Grandma) was well known for her breads, donuts, cinnamon rolls and pizza, all from scratch.

After selling the farm, Evelyn and Ernest moved to Clinton. After Ernest passed, Evelyn remained busy with her family and her neighborhood family. Due to decline in her health, she moved to Warrensburg Manor Care Center and called the staff her friends. For the past several months, she was also charmed by Crossroads Hospice. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Warrensburg Manor Care Center and Crossroads Hospice for all their kindness and support.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest in 2004 and her daughter Patricia Ann in 1982.

Survivors include her children; Mary (Mark) Fuelling of Knob Noster, Missouri, Brenda Greene of Chilhowee, Missouri, Ernest (Kathy) Mahan Jr. of Archie, Missouri, Dorothy (Butch) Page of Clinton, Missouri, Angie (Shawn) Harvey of Jefferson City, Missouri. She was very proud of her 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
