Mary Elizabeth came to be known only as Elizabeth. She was born to Troy and Mabel Malvina {Warner} Clayton on October 20, 1919. She was the fourth daughter of Troy and Mabel and would later be joined by a brother, Clarence William Clayton, better known as Bill. She was
born at Ohio, Missouri and attended grade school and church there. She graduated high school at Lowry City on May 12, 1938.

February 11,1939 Elizabeth married Charles Albert Hinton. Her faithfulness and devotion to Charles deepened during WW 2, as she moved to Florida where Charles was serving. This was to be the first of many moves through the years as Charles became involved in road
construction. They owned a home that was mobile, so they could live near the job site. Towns in Southeast Missouri were home for many years as work on interstate 55 progressed. Elizabeth's devotion kept her husband fed, the home nice and the clothes washed. This devotion was extended to the Clayton and Hinton family lines as Charles and Elizabeth had no children of their own. Time would take them to Tulsa, Oklahoma and eventually Kansas City, Missouri, all while living in a mobile home. In 2000, the home was moved to Clinton, Missouri. Charles entered Westwood Living Center for his final years and Elizabeth continued her care, commitment and devotion to her husband by visiting him every day. Following Charles death in 2004 after 64 years of marriage, Elizabeth lived alone until entering assisted care with her sister Ruthella, in May 2O1O. Elizabeth and Ruthella were able to enjoy each day together caring for each other, tending to their small living quarters, and brightening the lives of many in the Colonial Manor in Appleton City, MO.

Elizabeth endured the death of Ruthella on October l0, 2014, celebrated her 95th birthday October 20, 2014 and then suffered a stroke early New Year's Day 2015. Elizabeth's days ended peacefully in the afternoon on January 4, 2015, in Bates County Memorial Hospital, Butler, Missouri.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents, Troy and Mabel Clayton; her siblings Martha Regania McConnell, Edna Josephine Clayton, Ruthella Knight, and Bill Clayton. She is survived by a sister in law, Lucile {shoemaker} Clayton, nephews, greet nieces
and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, as well as great great great nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. Her selfless devotion, laughter, and excitement will be sorely missed, but a lasting memory for many.
