Mary Katherine Castek, age 93, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe, KS at 10AM. Funeral services will be live streamed on the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home Facebook page. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 1PM at Anderson Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA. Mary Katherine Castek was born May 14, 1927 to Earl and Beatrice Harrison in Cedar Rapids, IA. Mary attended Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids. She Married Wallace Castek. Mary worked at Johnson Gas, Pacific Intermountain Express, and Farmed on the family farm. She lived in Swisher, IA until 2000 when she moved to Kansas City, MO.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, in-laws, Aldrich and Sylvia Castek, and sister-in-law, Edna Faltinson.

Mary is survived by her sister, Norma Jean Shay, nephew, Pat (Lori) Shay of Clinton, and their family, Amy L. Kennish of Kansas City, Nicholas Shay of Clinton, Laine Shay of Corpus Christi, TX, and Hannah Sue Kennish of Kansas City, along with a special family friend Veronica Lopez.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Heartland Hospice of Kansas City, Blessed Choice of Care, and Lisette Delgado and Dorothy Peacock.
