Lorene Faye Smith (formerly Clay, Hayes) passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the age of 83. She was born in Oklahoma, the daughter of James D. and Georgia Faye Clay. Relocating to Clinton, MO during World War II, she completed her education and received training and experience in the dry cleaning industry. She eventually received certification in Cosmetology and operated salons for several years.

In 1962 she wed Joseph Hayes, Jr., of Deepwater, MO. Mr. Hayes died in 1993. In 1998 she married John "Jack" Smith and resided for several years in Arroyo Grande, CA, returning to Clinton in 2014 following Mr. Smith's death.

She is survived by three sisters, four brothers and several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, 10:30 A.M. at Englewood Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
