Lawanna "Lou" Young, age 89, of Deepwater, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial to follow in the Deepwater Cemetery in Deepwater, Missouri. Memorial contributions can be made to the Deepwater Cemetery and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Lou was born on May 12, 1935 in Noel, Missouri to ben and Ethel (Chrisman) Cantrell. She married Walter Young Jr. on June 8 1966. Lou attended Calhoun Methodist Church for many years until she was unable. She worked as a Secretary for Clark Forklift Company in the city before moving back to their Deepwater farm. Lou was the caretaker for Deepwater Cemetery for many years and she was as a caregiver to numerous families in the area for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Young Jr., her parents, her two brothers James Cantrell and John Cantrell, her two sisters, Edith Batson, and Ethel May Lett, her two sons Joe Young and John Young and grandchildren Chris Young, Andy Young and Holly Witherspoon.

Survivors include her 5 children David (Debbie)Garcia, Gary (Loretta) Young, Pete (Mary) Young, Dena Young and Susan Witherspoon, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Janet Young.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
