Karen J. Carter, age 57 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas. A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private family inurnment is scheduled for a later date in Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Vansant Road Cemetery and may be left in care of the funeral home. Karen was born April 3, 1957 in Clinton, Missouri the daughter of Robert and Mary (Stockdall) Hawkins. She worked at Rival for 14 years. Karen enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms, and watching deer. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Randie.

Survivors include her son, Brian E. Carter (fiancée Morgan Vanderburg) of Clinton, Missouri; two daughters, Stacy Foreman (Jim) and Amy G. Carter, both of Clinton, Missouri; three brothers, Robert J. Hawkins (Linda) of Calhoun, Missouri, Ross Hawkins (Paula) of Clinton, Missouri, and Ray Hawkins (Beverly) of Clinton, Missouri; one sister, Carol Sell (Gary) of Calhoun, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kirsten Gillespie, Alec Gillespie, Brennon Carter, and Keira Carter; her best friend, Sister Cousin Ruth Parnell of Clinton, Missouri, as well as many nieces and nephews.
