John R. "Jack" Philpott age 86 of Clinton, MO passed away December 15, 2010 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Clinton United Methodist Church, Clinton with burial in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. Family will receive freinds one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Family suggests memorials to the Clinton United Methodist Church and may be left at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home. Jack was born June 3, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of George Raymond and Jewell Bernice (Gott) Philpott. He graduated from Rich Hill High School in l942. He joined the U. S. Navy and served in the European Theatre for the duraton of the war serving as a Chief Petty Officer. He married Naomi M. Stoddard on May 16, 1944. He moved his family to Clinton in l958. He worked for Kansas City Power and Light Montrose Station and retired as a control operator in l986. He was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. He was Past Commander of American Legion Post # 14, Clinton. He was a charter member of the Clinton Country Club. He was a union steward and on the executive board of I.B.E.W., Local 412, Clinton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi of the home; four sons, John Philpott and wife, Ruth of Salisbury, North Carolina, Steve Philpott and wife, Bonnie of Oak Grove, Missouri, David Philpott and wife, Rhonda of Lenexa, Kansas and Jim Philpott and wife, Mary Lou of Clinton, Missouri; four brothers, Donald Philpott of Lowry City, Missouri, Ray Philpott and wife, Kathy and Dale Philpott and wife, Dalene, all of Independence, Missouri and George Philpott and wife, Sharon of Kansas City, Missouri as well as five grandchildren, Jeff Philpott and wife, Michelle of Columbia, South Carolina, Jolene Philpott of Salisbury, North Carolina, Greg Philpott and Heather Crews of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Tracy Gregory and husband, Brad of Wichita, Kansas and Luke Philpott of Clinton, Missori and four great grandchildren, Callie Philpott, Tyler Philpott, Jillian Gregory and Bridgette Philpott.
