John E. Newell, age 85, Chilhowee, Missouri,  passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Warrensburg Manor, Warrensburg, Missouri. Visitation will be held Monday, August 10, 2020 from 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 11AM at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home with interment following at Englewood Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Quarles Baptist Church or Missouri Baptist Children's Home and may be left in care of the funeral home. John Edward Newel was born April 23, 1935 to Alfred and Ada (Lindsey) Newell in Cooper County, Missouri. John married Lunetta Fisher October 20, 1953. He was a Charter Life member with the Missouri Deputy Sheriff's Association. John was a member of the Quarles Baptist Church, Missouri Peace Officers Association, and Nations Deputy Sheriff's Association.

John is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Clarence, Norman and Jimmy, and 3 sisters Mabel, Nellie and Edna.

John is survived by his wife Lunetta, sons Randal Newell of Scott City, MO, Alan Newell of Clinton, MO, Christopher Newell of Chilhowee, MO, daughters Rhonda Lunsford of Los Frasnos, TX, and Diane Johnson of Higginsville, MO, sister Mary Fornshell, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
