John Daniel Minnick, age 66, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home in Clinton, Missouri. Johns wishes were to be cremated. A memorial visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton Senior Center Home Delivered Meal Program and can be left in care of the funeral home.

John Daniel Minnick was born June 12, 1955 in Springfield, Missouri to Frank and Margaret (Broos) Minnick. He had three sisters, Frances Minnick, Mary Whalen, and Patricia Ashby. He grew up living on farms so he was very knowledgeable about farm animals. He started working at 14 doing odd jobs and hauling hay. He went to school at Sherwood and graduated in 1973. He played football during high school.

He worked at Kansas City Structural Steel. Labor Day weekend 1975 at a street dance in Deepwater, Missouri he met Cindy Prater. As he liked to say he knew there was something special there. They didn't start dating until a year later. He lived in Garden City and Cindy lived in Clinton. Cindy was 16 and John was 20. Thy dated 2 ½ years and this was before cell phones.

John and Cindy were married on December 29, 1978. They were married at the courthouse in Harrisonville, Missouri. On November 11, 1982 Nora Jean was born. John decided to go to truck driving school while working two jobs. When John had the time he loved to trout fish and deer hunt. John went to work for Zollickers hauling propane and worked several years at this. Grace Nicole was born July 20, 1988.

John and Cindy always worked so when their daughters were old enough they went to work. His present job was D&D Sexton Trucking driving to Carthage and back twice a day. May 6, 2010 Grace had Ireland Marie and John loved spending time with this girl. When Nora married Marc, John and Cindy gained Amy. When Grace married Matt, John and Cindy gained Mathew. December 4, 2019 Kaiden Daniel was born.

John is survived by his wife Cindy of the home, daughters; Nora Baumgarden (Marc), Grace Barber (Matt), grandchildren; Amy, Ireland, Mathew, and Raiden, three sisters Frances, Mary and Pat, and special friends from the duck blind.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
