John was born April 23, 1941, in Kansas City, MO.  He was the son of Sam and Louise Fares.  John was one of eight children. He married the love of his life, Ann, on March 20, 1963.  The two were each other's lifelong companions and friends.  They were blessed with six children.

He worked many years as a painter and would point out many businesses and houses that he had painted around town.  He loved to pitch horseshoes and would travel to compete in tournaments.  He loved making homemade pies for the family and was "famous" for his pie crusts.  He loved being outside: mushroom hunting, walking the Katy Trail, gardening, and renting cabins to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

He loved the Kansas City Chiefs. He was known for his sense of humor and antics, and for coming up with his own homemade remedies for just about anything.  He loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and everyone that ever met him thought the world of him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Louise Fares, one son: Michael Fares, five siblings: Mary Gray, Walt Fares, Al Fares, Charlie Fares, and Vera Graham.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ann Fares, of the home, five children: Audrey Livingston, Sam Fares (wife Shelly), Angela Young, Michelle Stockdall (husband James), and Annie Wehmeyer (husband Eric), two siblings:  Darlene Fabyanic and Jeanne Wilson, 19 grandchildren and 34 Great-Grandchildren.
