Joan was born to Agnes Shamet and Earl Custer of Kansas City, KS on November 6, 1956.   She led a full life from working at GM to owning Crazy Carl's BBQ to working at Schreiber Foods.  She was a caregiver to all she met.  She saw the good in everyone.  Her love for people will live on in those she leaves behind.

Joni had a passion for visiting with people, taking pictures, dancing, listening to music, laughing and watching Hallmark Christmas movies. Her most precious time was any time spent with her family.  She loved to tell stories about them and boast about how proud she was of each of them.  Her heart and mind never left any of them.  She absolutely adored ALL of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.  Joni always put everyone else's needs in front of her own.  She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ being the Lord and Savior and that He never gave you anything more than you could handle.  "Everything happens for a reason," she would say.  Joan will be remembered for her kind heart and giving soul.

Joni is preceded in death by her husband Carl, Mother Agnes, Father Earl, Brother Dave and Sister Marlene.

Joni is survived by her children, Emily and husband, Jeff, Tine and wife, Farrah; Wesley, Sherman, Shane and wife, Josie and Troy and wife, Taryn.  She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren who adore her immensely; Taylor, 17, Avery, 11, Julia, 10, Tine, JR, 9, Quinn, 9, Jet, 8, Graham, 7, Xavier, 2, Gabriel, 2, and Max, 1.  Joan leaves behind a niece, Amy and nephew, Keith and a plethora of friends.

Psalm 34:18; The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
