Jerry, along with a twin brother Jackie Gene Clay, were born 16 Aug 1950 in Clinton, Missouri to the late James Dudley Clay and Georgia Faye Roberts. Jackie preceded Jerry to be with our Lord 10 years ago to the day.
Growing up in Clinton, Jerry was an active sportsman, competing in baseball and football. He carried that love of sports throughout the rest of his life. A spiritual foundation was laid by his mother and a moral foundation was laid by his participation in Boy Scouts of America in which he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. These were the same foundations he tried to instill upon his own family, too. Jerry was always in the center of activities growing up. He was a life guard at the swimming pool and in the evenings would be running the projectors at the Crest Movie Theater. After graduating from Clinton Senior High in 1969, he felt the call of the open road upon his life and for 42 years he worked hard as a truck driver before retiring. When not on the road, Jerry loved to go hunting and fishing with his father-in-law, Ray Wyatt. Jerry continued to live in Clinton, Missouri before finally settling in Hereford, Arizona in 2013, where he and his wife became active members of the Sierra Springs Church in Hereford.
Jerry Clay was a devoted husband and father. In 1972 he married Linda Jean Wyatt and together they would have a son, Eric Wyatt Clay. He loved everyone unselfishly and was always there to assist if you were ever in need. He touched everyone with his love of life and would push you to enjoy life to its fullest.
Jerry is survived by his brothers and sisters; Henry, George, Ben, Billy, Jimmy Dale, Lorene, Patty, Virginia and Mary. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law who loved him very much, Jeff, Sheryl, and Dana.
Tay, you will be missed very much…
