Hoby L. Dewey, 67, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at his home in Appleton City, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Appleton City, Missouri. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 25, 2025 also at the Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hoby Dewey Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Hoby was born on April 3, 1958 in Niles, Michigan to Loris and Ruth Dewey.

Hoby had many interest. He enjoyed fishing, picking up walnuts all over the county, and going with neighbors to do chores on the farm. He would spend time tinkering in the shed with anything he could find that needed fixing. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife and dog, his son and grandson and his best friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (Martin) Dewey and Loris Dewey, and baby brother, Vernon Dewey.

Survivors include his wife Jean Harris of the home, his son, Zachary Allan Dewey (Bailee), his stepson, John Michael (Jessica Cellona), grandson, Elliott Dewey, his sister, Justine Dewey, and brother, Danny Dewey (Peggy), along with his best friend, Max Sleeper (Jeanne), several nieces and nephews, many wonderful friends and neighbors, and his beloved dog Koko and 4 cats.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
