Henry was born at the family home South of Humansville, near Plum Grove Church, to Fred Carson Bigler and Lucy Lea (Hamons) Bigler. He was the eighth of twelve children born to Fred and Lucy. During the financial hardships created during World War II, he moved to Kansas City as a teenager to live with older siblings and to work at Union Station unloading trains. He would later serve in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Germany, in the early 1950's. In 1958, Henry married Betty Jane Powers in Kansas City. Henry and Betty would move to Clinton where they would raise nine children. He worked for Champion Oil before starting at Stewart-Nattinger and would work there for over thirty years, retiring in 1993. He would later work several years at Radio Shack. Henry was a long time member of the Clinton VFW where he enjoyed weekly bingo and playing cards.

Henry is survived by his wife of sixty years and all nine children.
