Helen Lee Bramell, age 88, died peacefully on Friday March 3 rd , 2017 after a struggle with Alzhiemer's Disease.  Helen was born in Deep Water, MO on April 14 th 1928 as twin to Evelyn, to the late Wilbert Earl Scrogham and Alley Bell (Dunning) Scrogham.  She was the youngest of three children born to Wilbert and Alley.

From an early age she had a knack for business raising pigs to sell for her first Hereford cow, later switching to Black Angus for a better auction price. The farming would continue for the rest of her life as Helen graduated from Deepwater High School in 1946 and married her childhood neighbor Earl "Shorty" Bramell on April 21 st , 1951. Her ambitious and determined nature led to over 50 successful years of service at the Farmer's Bank of Clinton, now known as Hawthorn Bank. At the bank she climbed through the ranks from Deposit Teller to Vice President. Helen's love for banking was drawn from the interesting and pleasant working conditions, but mostly her passion for helping people.

Helen was an active lifetime member of the Deepwater Christian Church community where she was a Deaconess and served on the church board. She also served as president of the Christian Women's Fellowship and member of Eastern Star.  Helen also enjoyed time with friends in a sewing circle and canning oversized produce from her garden.

Helen enjoyed retirement by working with Earl to care for her family farm and cattle in Deepwater. She especially enjoyed wind rowing and hauling hay. She must have done a fairly good job because Earl was very particular about who operated his equipment.

Mrs. Bramell was a kind, generous, and unconditionally supportive mother to her daughter, Glenda Simms. Helen is survived by her daughter, Glenda and her husband Bill Simms; three grandsons, Cottan Simms and wife Scout of Houston, Texas; Corey Simms and wife Hilary of San Antonio, Texas,  and  Kelly Simms of Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.  Also, two great grandsons, Liam and Oliver Simms of San Antonio, Texas.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton.
