Surrounded by the family he cherished, George Stanley "Oscar" Massie left this world on August 12, 2026, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. At 77, he had lived a life full of grit, devotion, and heart.  George was born on March 3, 1949, in Ironton, Ohio, and grew up romping through the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Kitts Hill with his best friends and siblings. He was the fourth of fifteen children born—eleven of whom survived birth—to the late Alice Maxine Jenkins Massie and Charles Stanley Massie. His life was shaped by service, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved.

In January 1968, George answered his country's call and joined the United States Navy. He served proudly as an Electrician's Mate Second Class (EM2), E-5, aboard the USS Glover (AGDE-1). He received an Honorable Discharge in December 1970, along with a certificate of appreciation from President Nixon. George carried the same commitment to excellence into every chapter of his life.

After his military service, George pursued his education, graduating from United Electronics Institute in 1973 and later earning Phi Theta Kappa honors. He went on to build a long and successful career in management for several Kansas City–based telecommunications companies and later operated his own business, Intercept Security. He concluded his professional journey at the AT&T Fiber NOC Center, retiring in 2014.

George was a man of strong convictions—steadfast in his beliefs, deeply conservative in his values, and proud of the nation he served. He loved farming, talking sports, and sharing his opinions with anyone willing to listen—and often with those who weren't. Above all, George loved his family. He and his wife, Patricia Marie "Patty" Massie, would have celebrated 43 years of partnership this December. Together, they raised their blended family of five children and helped raise all of their grandchildren with intention and purpose, creating a life rich in love, laughter, and togetherness.

George was preceded in death by his chosen daughter, Erin Taylor; his brothers Daryl Christopher Massie, Raymond Joseph Massie, and Charles Thomas Massie; his parents; his infant sister, Elizabeth; and an unnamed infant brother.

In addition to his beloved wife, Patty, George is survived by: his daughters Christina Hanson of Fayetteville, AR; Rebecca Massie of Kansas City, MO; and Juliana (Chris) Gilbreth of Centerton, AR; his son Dustin (DeAnna) Massie of Collinsville, IL; six brothers—David, Jimmy (Peg), Gary (Sandy), Rock (Sharon), Johnny, and Justin Massie; his sister Kathy (Dane McConnel) Duncan; twelve grandchildren; and one and a half great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of strength, humor, and love. George's faith in God was a steady presence throughout his life, and his family finds comfort knowing he rests now, with his mom and family, in the Lord's care.
