Obituary

Evelyn Arthur, age 98, of Raymore, Mo. passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at her home in Clinton, Missouri. A Celebration of Life  will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Faith Baptist Church in Raymore, Missouri. Fond memories and condolences can be left at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com .

She was born in Denver, Missouri, in the northwest part of the state, on November 19, 1927, daughter of the late Arthur and Ruby (Zimmerman) Goin.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Ronald Arthur, on June 21, 2020. Evelyn is survived by their three children, Pamela Arthur, Steven Arthur, and David Arthur, including her seven grandchildren, Carrie (Bill) Jungclaus, Kara Beesley, Amber Beesley, Kyle (Grace) Beesley, Ashley Arthur, Megan Arthur, and Matthew Arthur. Evelyn also has four great-grandchildren, Karson Johnson, Kinley Johnson, Ashton Martin, and Carissa Martin, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

She grew up in Blue Springs, MO, and was the second eldest out of her four siblings, Arthur "Rex" Goin, Jack Goin, Marilyn Gaither, and Don Goin, who have all preceded her in death.

While still a teenager, Evelyn met Ronald Arthur. Little did they know at that initial meeting they would build a family and a life together that would stand the test of time. Ron joined the navy and was deployed to serve in WWII. He carried Evelyn's picture in his pocket and a deep love for her in his heart. Shortly after Ron returned home, he asked Evelyn to marry him. They married on February 6, 1945 in Olathe, KS. They settled in Raymore, Missouri, back when it had a population under 300. They planted their roots and started their family. Ron built them a house, while Evelyn made it a home.

The love, dedication, and generosity that Evelyn had for her family was unwavering and often sacrificial, but she didn't see it as a sacrifice, instead she saw it as a demonstration of Jesus' love. Her love, generosity, and ministry extended far beyond the boundary of her immediate family. Throughout her life, she was active in teaching children's church, coordinating Bible studies, caring for elderly in their homes, and sharing her faith to help others find Jesus.

Some of Evelyn's favorite memories included her and Ron's trip to Israel, the mission's trip to Brazil with Blue Ridge Bible Church, flying with Ron in their airplane, vacationing in the mountains and traveling the backroads in hopes to get a glimpse of a bear or other wildlife. She loved to fish with Ron and the family and cooking up their fresh catch for a delicious meal. Whenever you came to visit her, you'd better come hungry because she loved to cook and feed everyone their favorite meals. She created stability and a safe haven for those of us who needed a soft landing, even after all her family were grown. We always knew that we could come back home, and she would welcome us with open arms.

Evelyn left a priceless heritage for every family member, every person that she shared Christ with, every church family member, and every friend. She found great joy in showing others how Jesus died for their sins and helped them understand that if they believe in Jesus as their Savior, they will gain eternal life. She wanted to see every one of us in heaven, even the strangers that bagged her groceries at the grocery store. There will never be another Evelyn, and we are so blessed to have had her on this earth for 98 years.
