Ed, "Big Ed" as he was called by a lot of people, was the most real, genuine, honest, loving, thoughtful, great humored man you could have the privilege to know. He was born in on April 28, 1946 to Hansler and Nettie Schmidli. Ed graduated High School in 1964. He married Kathy (Houk) Schmidli on February 14, 1974.
He was a once in a lifetime person. He was saved on June 1975 and he lived his life with unwavering faith and strength and one that can be admired. He lived his life for the Lord and that can bring us a great amount of peace. He took his relationship with Jesus serious, and our family is so blessed that he was such an excellent Christian Soldier, a witness, Husband, Son, Dad, Father-in-Law, Brother, Brother-In-Law, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle, Great Uncle, friend, businessman and steward. He gave us all his wisdom, love, support, encouragement and Christian guidance that will last in our hearts forever.
Anyone who knew Ed instantly loved and respected him. He was no discriminator of persons. He was a person you could go to and talk to and get advice from. Anything from the Lord Jesus Christ to working on trucks and hauling that rock to fast cars to catching a big fish or just being there to lend a listening ear. There wasn't a question asked that he didn't know the answer to no matter the subject. He really loved people from all walks of life no matter their age. He was such a people person and would never pass by without giving you a firm handshake and a hello. The most important things in his life were his faith and his relationship with God, his country, his family, his friends and his job. He started each and every day praising and thanking the Lord and then he would head straight on up to Square 109 for a hearty breakfast and visiting with friends, then on to work he would go. He made sure he got all his customers, who meant so much to him, taken care of.
He loved his country and was very patriotic and a lifelong republican who supported the constitution and conservative values. He was so proud of his family and loved each and every one of them beyond measure. If you were lucky to be his friend, you knew you had one for life and that he would give you or anyone the shirt off his back if you ever needed it. He was surely one of kind and there will never be another like him. He touched so many lives and will be missed beyond measure but will live in our hearts forever until we meet again in Heaven to live eternally. Until then, "The Legend" will forever be remembered.
Proceeded him in death by his father Hansler Holland Schmidli, mother Nettie Lucielle (Ferro) Schmidli, sister Anna Lois Ross, nephew David Juel, & nephew Mark Duke.
Survivors include his wife Kathy (Houk) Schmidli, daughter Stacey (Schmidli) Anderson (wife of Dave), daughter Abby Schmidli, grandchildren Branden Davis, Jacey Davis, Katie Schmidli-Keller, Wesley Schmidli, & Tanner Keller, great grandchildren Issac, Drake, Maylee, Ellie & Maddie, sister Betty Duke, nephew Mitch Duke, & nephew Chris Juel.
