Dorothy was born March 29, 1931, in Windsor MO, a daughter of the late Leonard George Harms and Mary Frances (Marti) Harms.

As the eldest daughter and grand-daughter of farmers, she grew up working the fields, livestock, and gardens. It was through her time in the outdoors where she met Philip, her husband of 57 years. Dorothy loved gardening, growing plants, and flowers. She served many years as a 4H leader and judge. She was a member of Drake's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, and hand embroiderer. Many of her children and grandchildren still use her embroidered dish towels, pillow cases, and baby quilts. Dorothy dedicated many years of service to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was president of the Clinton's Post 1894 for five years and held several different district positions including president.

Dorothy and Philip enjoyed auctions and refinishing furniture. For years, they ran a weekend flea market and antique store on their property.

She is survived by seven daughters, Linda Hyde of Hendersonville, NC, Marie Travers of Kansas City, MO, Elaine Waugh of Raymore, MO, Helen Abney, Joyce Webster, Jane Harrison, Anita Cook all of Clinton; five sons, Gary Stocking of Harrisonville, MO, Bruce Stocking of Defiance, OH, Charles Stocking, Harold Stocking, Marvin Stocking all of Clinton; 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
