Doris Scroggs passed away April 18, 2007. She was born Feb. 17, 1920 near Lowry City,
MO and was the daughter of John and Audrey Simmons. She grew up in Clinton. Her education was from the Clinton School System, graduation from Southwest MO State College in 1941 and earned a Masters of Education from CMSU in 1968. She was a second grade teacher in the Clinton Public School System, retiring in 1990. She married David D. Scroggs Jr. on June 11, 1949 in Appleton City, MO and he preceded her in death. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Cathy Scroggs, two grand daughters, Sarah and Julie Scroggs, all of Columbia MO. She is also survived by two sisters, Lucile Geary of Jefferson City, Pauline Wheeler of Windsor and three nephews, John Wheeler, Robert Wheeler and Schuyler Wheeler. A reception will be held one hour before memorial services, which will be held at 10 o'clock on Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Clinton and a burial service following at the Appleton City Cemetery. The family requests that donations be sent to the First Baptist Church of Clinton in lieu of flowers. Services under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home.
