Donna Jean
Miers
Jul 2, 1943 — Apr 6, 2026
Blairstown
Donna Jean Miers, age 82, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026 at her home in Blairstown, MO surround by the love of her family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 1, 2026 at the Chilhowee Baptist Church in Chilhowee, Missouri. Followed by a private family Burial in the Chilhowee Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Chilhowee Cemetery and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Born on July 2, 1943, in Concord, CA, to Howard and Eleanor Holloway, Donna was a woman who truly sparkled. Whether she was lost in the pages of a new novel or dressed to the nines, she carried an elegance that was as bright as the jewelry she loved to wear. She married the love of her life, Charles Miers, on April 13th 1968, and they shared a beautiful life together until his passing in 2005.
Donna's kitchen was the heart of her home and the soul of many community gatherings. Her "Calico Beans" were a legendary staple at every barn festivity, and her homemade apple butter was second to none. While she was generous with her gifts year-round, her family knew that her Christmas cookies were the real present every December—a sweet tradition that will be deeply missed.
A woman of deep faith, Donna was a devoted member of the Chilhowee Baptist Church, where she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher. When she wasn't volunteering or hunting for treasures at a local garage sale, she was often found in her favorite spot in the living room. Whether she was getting lost in a gripping thriller or looking out the window at the perfect view of her patio, she remained the "hummingbird whisperer"—joyfully keeping watch as dozens of birds visited her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her son, Warren; her brother, Jerry Holloway; sister-in-law, Deanna Holloway; nephew, Darren Holloway; and her parents. Her legacy lives on through her family, whom she loved fiercely. She is survived by her two sons, Victor Whitaker and Judson Miers; her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Whitaker, Vincent Whitaker, and Connor Miers; and her great-grandchildren, Izabella Valdez, Vivian Whitaker, and Miles Whitaker. She also leaves behind her brother, Dean Holloway (Tess); her niece, Lori Abiecunas (Jason); great-niece Ella Abiecunas; nephew Tim Holloway (Connie); great-niece Heather Clayton (Tom); great grandnephew Kayce; nephew Russel Holloway (Molly), great grandnephew Josh, and great grandnieces Katie, and Hannah, and several other family and friends.
Donna will be remembered for her sharp wit, her impeccable fashion sense, and the beautiful blankets she hand-crafted for those she loved. She traveled many paths in life—with a particular fondness for the Oregon Coast—but her favorite place was always surrounded by family, retelling old stories and making sure every birthday was remembered.
Her presence was a gift, and while her sparkle will never truly fade, it is the quiet, everlasting strength of her love that will remain in our hearts forever. We only hope there's ACDC playing in Heaven for her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
