Donald William Hughes, 58, Clinton, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his home in Clinton. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com . A memorial service for Donald will be on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 2pm with visitation one hour prior at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to C.A.R.E. and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Donald (Donnie) William Hughes, 58, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in the home in Clinton, MO after a lengthy illness. He was born in Waukegan, IL on Dec. 28, 1960 to Dennis and Shirley (Barnes) Hughes. He was a 1979 graduate of Hermitage (MO) High School. Donnie is survived by his two sons, Christopher and Shawn, his five grandchildren, Katelyn, Krista, Mickenzie, Hayden, and Mack and great grandchild Stella, his sister Karen Yoss and brother Boyd (Debbie) Hughes, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Donnie was predeceased by his father Dennis Hughes and mother Shirley (Barnes) Hughes.

Upon graduating from high school, Donnie began a career in Highway and Heavy Construction. Donnie climbed the ranks and eventually became a Paving Superintendent for W. A. Ellis Construction Co. Donnie had a deep passion for and showed a keen talent at overseeing highway construction projects and was instrumental in the oversight of the construction of many of the interstate highway systems in the Kansas City metropolitan and surrounding area. Donnie was also an avid outdoorsman.
