Obituary

Donald Hublou, age 61 of Clinton passed away February 13, 2018 at St. Luke's. Fond memories and condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.

Donald "Don" Francis Hublou was born on January 7, 1957 in Raytown, Missouri to Robert and Alice Mae (Carter) Hublou.

Don began is work career working as a mechanic for the City of Lee's Summit.   For years, he was one of the "weekenders" to the Truman Lake Area.

He greatly enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting and would eventually build a lake house South of Tightwad.   This house would become his permanent home in 1991 when he purchased the Clinton Napa Store.  In 1997, the Napa Store was sold, but Don continued his career in auto parts, eventually leaving Napa to work for Autozone where he spent the remainder of his corporate career, before opening "Tightwad Repair" shop at his home.Everyone who knew Don, knew he could fix just about anything so there is always a never ending line at the shop.
Aside from being a mechanic, Don also enjoyed pursuing endeavors in screenprinting and embroidery as co-owner of Tightwad Tee's with his wife, Mary.

Though being raised in the city in recent years Don found his calling on the farm, tending to cattle and baling hay. If anything, all his cows were
extra "fluffy", as they had Don trained to believe everytime they came to the fence to greet him, they were hungry.

First and foremost, Don loved his family and friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He never knew a stranger and could sell ice to an eskimo. His passion for cooking was learned from his Grandmother, Vivian, and expressed best in his ribs or pork loin. No one left hungry from his house.Don thoroughly enjoyed traveling whether it be a quick trip to Vegas, Hawaii, or to Big Stone Lake in South Dakota. Don also loved sports and usually game day meant work ended a bit early so he could watch the Royals or Chiefs.

Don is survived by his wife Mary Malan of the home.   Daughter, Heather Hublou (Jarid King) of Clinton. Stepson, Anthony Malan of Clinton
