Obituary

Dennis Bourk Dreyer, age 72, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away suddenly and peacefully on November 3, 2023, while traveling with his beloved wife, daughter, and son-in-law. A Celebration of Life service to honor Bourk will be held on Friday, November 10th at 11am in the Wesley Chapel located in building C at the Church of the Resurrection campus, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, KS. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Stop Trafficking Project, 7240 Park Street, Shawnee, KS 66216.

He was born on May 14, 1951, he led a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for making a difference in the world.

Bourk was a proud graduate of Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri, where he made his first major life decision – to be known as Bourk rather than Dennis or Denny. He continued his academic journey at the University of Missouri, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and later becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He used his CPA skills professionally and philanthropically, making a lasting impact in the Kansas City area.

Bourk had a heart of gold and was always eager to give to others. His professional career included working for various firms in the KC area, and then launching his own accounting firm and LLC. But it wasn't just about business for Bourk; he donated his services generously to churches, pastors, and non-profit organizations, among others. He truly believed in the power of giving back to the community he loved.

One of the many joys in Bourk's life was his unwavering faith in Jesus, which he embraced in 1995. He was a devoted husband to Margo, a doting father to his daughter, September, and a loving stepfather to Jennifer. His adoration extended to his son-in-law, Scott Trible; grandchildren, Nate Carlson, Rene' Leever (Brandon), Andrew Martin, and Jax Baker; as well as his two adorable great-grandchildren. His love and support for his family knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Bourk had a soft spot for pets, small children, and, of course, the University of Missouri Tigers. He couldn't help but cheer passionately for his beloved Mizzou whenever they took the field. (Go Tigers!)

Bourk was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Mary Louise (Bourk) Dreyer; his first wife, Gail (Sooter) Dreyer; and his sister-in-law, B.K. (Crockett) Dreyer. He is survived by his siblings, Marc Dreyer and Anne Roewe (husband Steve); as well as his wife, daughter and son-in-law + their entire Brady Bunch, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews.

Dennis Bourk Dreyer was a man who touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may be gone from our sight, his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
