Born on July 9, 1958, in Clinton, Missouri, David was the son of Hugh Gray Sperry and Verna Maxine (Lewis) Allen. His life was filled with simple joys, quiet strength, and a selfless love for his family and friends.
David graduated from Clinton High School in 1976. Shortly after, he ventured to Oregon, where he worked briefly as a ranch hand before returning to Missouri to begin his lifelong career in cement masonry. As a proud member of the Kansas City Cement Masonry Union, he spent many years honing his craft and eventually established his own successful business. David's dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family, who were always his top priority.
David was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling across the United States. He loved exploring nature and capturing the beauty of the world around him through the lens of his camera. Most importantly, he cherished the moments spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a gifted storyteller, often sharing tales of past adventures and family history that brought laughter and a sense of connection to all who listened.
He is survived by his loving father, Hugh Sperry; his spouse, Rhonda Sperry; his two beloved children, Michael (Jennifer) Sperry and Angela (Bradley) Verslues; six grandchildren Xzavier, Peyton, Kylie, Brayden, Josephine, and Abbigail. David's legacy continues through his three sisters, Zoe (Mike) Butt, Natalie (Joe) Sperry, and Sarah Peterman, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Maxine (Lewis) Allen; stepfather, Robert Allen; stepmother, Janice (Montgomery) Sperry; brother-in-law, Kenny Peterman; and nephew, Derek Brown.
David was a kind and genuine soul who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was known for his warmth, humility, and the ability to find joy in the simplest of things. His legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to ACG Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during David's final months, especially to his nurse, Jennifer.
David Linn Sperry will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
