The daughter of the late Rev. Chester and Alice (Rogers) Smart was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 27, 1935 living most of her life in Missouri.  She lived in Colorado and Arkansas in her early years, but always came home to Missouri.  She was saved at an early age, and was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Chapel near Warsaw, MO.  Cora was proud that she received her GED in 1978 and took some college courses in Sedalia, MO.  She moved from the Kansas City area in 1973 to the Warsaw area where she lived until July 2000.  Then she moved to Independence and into Southview Manor.  She was known to say this was the best move she ever made.  She worked for Waterloo Industries in Sedalia from 1978 until retirement in 1995.  Since moving to Independence, Cora volunteered at the Salvation Army, which she enjoyed very much.  She was the Treasurer of the Southview Manor Residents Association from 2003-2004.

Cora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Camill (Van) Vanhoye in 1985, and a son John Lukenbill in 1980.

Survivors include 4 sons; Robert Lukenbill of Independence, MO, Chester Lukenbill of Kansas City, MO, Billy Joe Vanhoye of Cole Camp, MO, and Donald Vanhoye of Independence, MO, 1 daughter Donna G. Vanhoye of Griswold, CT, 2 stepdaughters Camille (Tiny) Lightner and Martha Gailey both of Tampa, FL, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
