Cleta M. Kennedy age 91, of Clinton Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Jefferson Gardens Assisted Living, Clinton. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, with interment in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Vansant-Mills Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Clinton, or Henry County Museum and left in care of the funeral home. Cleta was born in Henry County, Missouri, near Deepwater, Missouri, the daughter of Fred and Cordia Jane (Dunning) Shaffner. She was married to Floyd Kennedy, who preceded her in death on January 10, 1994. Cleta was always willing to do things for others, especially sewing. She volunteered 25 years for the American Red Cross, and over 25 years at Henry County Museum. She was also a volunteer in Scouting, Church and School activities. Being a homemaker was always her first priority. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Clinton, as long as her health permitted.

Cleta is survived by her son, Kurtis Lynn Kennedy and wife, Barbara of Pleasanton, California; two grandsons, Zackary Kennedy and Jerad Kennedy; one sister, Lorraine Brown of Clinton; one niece, Sarajane and one nephew Steve.
