Obituary

Christopher S. Smith, age 48 of Clinton, Missouri , passed away, Sunday, August 30th, 2020, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.

Christopher Smith was born in Moore, OK on June 9, 1972. As a young man, he formed a tight bond to his maternal grandparents- his MeMe and Pa. They taught him all about his Cherokee Indian heritage and a life long love of fishing. He became a dyed in the wool OU fan. A team he would be fanatical about until the end.
Often offering rousing renditions of OU's fight song "Boomer Sooner" to his friends, family, generally anyone within ear shot. Much to their chagrin. As an adult he had an unquenchable desire to become a family man, and could be found trying to wrestle into his possession any baby in sight only to smother them with affection and love. He would go on to live for his own children Hunter and Jaden. He took pleasure taking them for visits back to Tahlequah, OK to visit his grandma and grandpa Smith and his cherished MeMe. For a portion of his life, he would work as an over the road truck driver to provide for his family. A job he both loved and excelled at. I'm sure if some of those adventures could be told.... well maybe it's better if some of those adventures don't be told. Those who knew him though, knew when that home bound turn came. He was grabbing gears and pedal down to get back to those children that he loved. Probably the only thing that outshined his joy at being a father, was his adoration of being a Poppop. Emberlees birth reinvigorated his spirit, and he was able to share his love of being a grandfather. He was fiercely loyal to his family and his friends. If he told you he'd stand with you, he'd be there. In his free time he enjoyed computer games as well as all forms of technology, Star Wars movies, and lazy Sundays with homemade queso, wings and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His raucous sense of humor and ease of laughter was one of his most endearing qualities. Although he left us very much too soon. He will live with us in our memories and stories of him for the rest of our days. He will be fondly talked about amongst friends and family and to his grandchildren whom will no doubt never tire of hearing stories of their Poppop. There will be a visitation on Saturday from 11am to 1pm. For more information please contact the family.
