Belva was born on September 7 th , 1931 in DuBois, PA. She was the daughter of Paul E. and Vivian (Kelly) Vandervort, and was a graduate of Sandy High School.
On September 3, 1949, Belva married her best friend, Harold Amos (Hap) Strouse. They began their family in Rockton, Pennsylvania before moving to Clinton, Missouri, where they have lived in the Apple Orchard for over 50 years. She was blessed with 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren that were the highlight of her life.
Belva was a beautician in Clinton for several years and started out her career at Aldias School of Beauty, then went on to work at the Attic Salon and then ended her hairdressing days at the Beauty Nook. She was known to have her "special clients" come to the house to get treated to a haircut, perm or a color quite often. Hap was a repeat customer!! You could find her often downstairs sitting under the hairdryer waiting for her hair to dry in her own little basement beauty shop! She then went on to do some product sample giveaways at the local grocery stores where she enjoyed passing out food samples and visiting with the locals which were mostly friends.
Belva loved spending time outdoors, raking leaves, planting flowers, taking walks and playing with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to garage sales with her friends and sometimes she could even talk Hap into going with her. Belva and Hap loved having company and always made sure you never left hungry after a visit. Belva enjoyed the holidays and always had her home decorated for every season and looked forward to her children, grand and greats coming to enjoy them with her. She was the best grandbaby sitter you could imagine. The world revolved around all her kids.
Belva is survived by her loving children; Harold Amos (Lisa) Strouse Jr "Tobe," Thomas LaMar (Sheri) Strouse, Randy Lee Strouse and Lori Lynn (Gary) Haupt; grandchildren; Josh Strouse, Seth Strouse, Hayli Beebe, Thomas (Jen) Strouse, Dillon (Tiffany) Strouse, Cassie Lamb, Casey (Andrea) Strouse, Cody (Angelina) Strouse, Clayton (Brittany) Radford and Makala Radford; great grandchildren; Aidan, Addi, Mason, Truman, Taylar, Sidney, Karson, Kannon, Kendrick, Ava, Blayne, Isla Rose, Connor and Emma; her sisters Shirley Davie, Garnie (John) Jacobson and her brother Bob (Jerry) Vandervort and many nieces
and nephews that loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hap Strouse, her parents Paul E. and Vivian (Kelly) Vandervort, her grandma Della Kelly and her brother Paulie Vandervort who passed at age 3, her dear brother in law, Bill Davie and a great grandson Aidan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
