Alva was born June 29, 1932 in Texas County, Missouri the son of Homer and Zilpha (Stockton) Routh. Alva's love of music was shared with his whole family. He loved pickin' and grinin' with his brother Louis and whomever else he could find! Alva was a member of the Golden Valley Blue Grass Association where he met June during the May festival. They both worked at the festival becoming good friends and finding they had the same interests. In August, Alva called June to take her to Warsaw to a music show and the rest was history. They were married July 2, 2011. Alva's daughter Cathy and June's daughter Debbie were always referred to as "our two daughters". Alva would tell friends they were married 115 years as Alva and Polly were married 56 years and Harold and June 55 years, plus their four years together. They had a good four years which was cut to short.
Alva's life was filled with the Lord's work. He served as one of the Elders at the Clinton Church of Christ and he would lead singing there as well. Alva glorified God through teaching His word and bringing others to Christ!
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Polly, two sons, William Edward "Eddie" Routh and Elmer Marion Routh, as well as four brothers, and four sisters.
