Charlotte M. Stoneking, age 97 of Clinton, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Country Club Care Center, Warrensburg, Missouri. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with burial in Teays Chapel Cemetery, Montrose, Missouri. The family will receive frineds one hour before the service on Wednesday at the chapel. Family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home. Charlotte was born June 4, 1914 in the south part of Henry County Missouri, the fourth of seven children born to Willie J. and Pearl Ethel (Nida) Landes. She married Virgil Ward Stoneking on May 18, 1932 and to this union seven children were born. She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, a 4-H Leader in Shawnee Mound, a child care provider, she was active in the Business and Professional Women's Group and the Henrietta Extension Club. She worked as a township tax collector, a seamstress at a sewing factory and finally for the Henry County Ex-officio Tax Collectors Office for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie J. and Pearl Ethyl Landes; her daughter, Charlene Hutson and her siblings, Charles Marion Landes, Uel J. Landes, Ray Anthony Landes, Christian Carson Landes and Esta Helen Thornburg.
She is survived by her children, Margie Pearl Albin and husband, John of Lincoln, Missouri, William Joseph Stoneking and wife, Sandy and Kenneth Wayne Stoneking and wife, Barbara, all of Blairstown, Missouri, Dennis Dale Stoneking and wife, Wanda and James Dean Stoneking, all of Chilhowee, Missouri and Carolyn Sue Varner and husband, Don of Warrensburg, Missouri, and son-in-law Jim Hutson, Warrensburg, Missouri. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, two step great great grandchildren; her sister, Evelyn May Sapp of Montrose, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vanant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton.
