Don Edward Snyder

Don E. Snyder, age 85, of Clinton passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Clinton United Methodist Church, Clinton, Missouri. Inurnment will be in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri. Family suggests contributions to the Clinton United Methodist Church, the Henry County Historical Society or the Lyons, Kansas United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home. Don was born in Stockton, Kansas, the son of Harold Hollis and Edna B. (Barr) Snyder. He received a B.A. in Business from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II. He was Vice President at the Lyons State Bank until he retired. He was currently serving on the Board of Directors.

Don served on the Lyons City Council, the Lyons School Board, he served as Lyons Chamber of Commerce President and served on the board of directors. He was a fifty year member of the Kansas Bankers Association. He was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, Lyons, Kansas. Don was a 45 year member of the Lyons, Kansas Kiwanis Club, and also was a HAM radio operator.

After moving to Clinton Don was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church were he was a member of the hand bell choir, the church band and the chancel choir. He was a member of the Clinton City Band, a life member of the V.F.W. Post #1894 where he served on the Honor Guard, a member of the Sunrise Optimist Club and was a docent at the Henry County Musuem.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Snyder.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat of the home; his son, Bruce Snyder and wife, Cindy of Prairie Village, Kansas; his three daughters, Donna Talley and husband, Tom of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Sandy Widmer and husband, Burt of Casper, Wyoming and Mary Snyder and partner, Yvonne Hillier of Houston, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Travis Talley, Ryan Talley and wife, Katie, Sara Warner, Rachel Warner, Michael Erickson, Caitlan Hillier, Bobby Hillier, Jhenna Hillier, Abby Snyder, Matthew Snyder and Drew Snyder; three great grandchildren, Betsy, Goldie and Cora and his brother, Dale Snyder and wife, Barbara of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton.
